Belt it Out Sew and Tell

The Belt it Out belt is one of the easiest and quickest projects you'll ever do.  It doesn't take a lot of materials or fabric, and in fact, it's a great way to use up your scraps.

This is a great project to introduce children to sewing and patchwork.  Let them choose the fabrics and design the belt, while you do all the pressing and sewing, and voila!  They've got a custom made accessory!

Start to finish, this belt probably took about 45 minutes.  You don't need any special tools or equipment, although, again, a mini iron would help to save those fingertips.  I used a regular universal needle to sew through the layers of interfacing.  It worked just fine, although it's best to sew slowly.  In fact, for the last bit of stitching, which was four layers of interfacing, I had to hand crank the needle a few times.

Another way to make your belt unique would be to play around with the topstitching.  Play around with decorative thread, and try out different stitching designs.  You could even stitch out your name, or maybe a cheeky little message on the back!  xD

I've already started using my belt, and I've enjoyed showing it off to my family.  It's easy to get creative with this project.  Once you make one, you'll find yourself showing it off too!
